I know that at one point or another in our lives we have all had a great idea, but because we asked someone or wanted confirmation that it was a good idea from our friends, family or co-workers they have a tendency to discourage us from pursuing it. Then we find out several years later that someone else capitalized on our idea–how many of you have had this happen?

If this just might be the case for you, and you want to “Drop Into Genius” and follow through on your intuition then Paul’s book is for you. As Paul states there is a powerful nonconscious mind within that determines the results you create in life. It is more capable, fast, efficient, and infinitely more intelligent that your limited conscious mind, it is your nonconscious through which your “genius potential is expressed.

When we do make mistakes or fail to learn, the emotional and psychological wounds can go deep. If we fail to learn, we often learn to fail most successfully. We learn to repeat our failure to learn in spite of anyone’s attempt to help. For many people it becomes “safer” to be a failure at something than to engage in the messy business of learning. Paul teaches that we need to pass through stages of confusion and not knowing how to do something. It is at this point where we make the breakthroughs and new patterns of learning are developed.

If you are ready for a tremendous breakthrough in your learning and personal development then “Drop into Genius” is a must read. Paul is a genius himself, and the book is an easy read filled with exercises that will help you become aware of your limitations and go beyond them and reach your true potential. If you would like more information and want to download “Drop into Genius” please click here to be linked to Paul’s website.

In the western world, we all seem to be driven by the clock. The question that I hear frequently asked is, “what time is it”? In this wonderful interview with author and psychologist Dr. Philip Zimbardo, we explore the meaning and value we place on time, as well as his time perspective inventory. His book entitled, “The Time Paradox“, reveals how to better use your most irreplaceable resource, based on solid science and timeless wisdom

The reality is that we are all going to run out of time at some point in our lives. In other words we are going to exit this physical plane of existence and move on to a spiritual realm. We are all going to die, and this life will end. As Dr. Zimbardo points out, our time perspective reflects attitudes, beliefs, and values related to time. He asks the question, do you spend more time thinking about the past, the present or future? And when you think about the past, present or future are your thoughts positive, or negative, happy or sad, hopeful or fearful? Your personal time perspective helps determine your answers to these types of questions and reflects your thoughts, feelings and behaviors–in fact, all aspects of your life.

Dr. Zimbardo states that while time perspectives will continue to emerge, change and evolve, for the Western world, he has identified six perspectives: two past, two present, and two future. These time perspectives are called the: 1) past negative 2) past positive 3) present-fatalistic 4) present hedonistic 5) future 6) transcendental-future.

If you would like to determine your own time perspective I would recommend that you take the (Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory) This is a very short questionnaire but something you will find quite useful in determining your personal time perspective. You can access this questionnaire by clicking here.

If you are have ever wondered where does all the time go, or you are wanting to learn more about how your personal perspective about time effects your emotions, attitudes and feelings then I highly recommend that you read “The Time Paradox.” This is a wonderful book that will provide each reader with a new and altered perspective about time and the value we place on it.

I hope you enjoy my interview with Dr. Philip Zimbardo and please visit his website for additional information about this book and others. You can access his website by clicking here.

Dr. Shoshanna in her new book “Fearless” has created a unique guide to understanding how fear works. She blends the teachings of the East and West, and includes real-life anecdotes and practical exercises which provide the psychological, spiritual, and practical guidance for attaining a life of growth, fulfillment, creativity and well-being. No matter what your fears might be Dr Shoshanna shows how to convert this constant sense of dread into peace of mind.

In each chapter, Dr. Shoshanna explores one of seven principles of peace of mind and teaches us how to dissolve a related form of fear, transforming it into a source of courage and strength. In my interview with Dr. Shoshanna we explore the seven principles of creating a peace of mind.

As Dr. Shoshanna articulates, fear is a great deceiver. When you buy into the lies it sells, it takes your time, hope, and life force from you. In exchange for the false sense of well-being fear offers, you give away your birthright. If you want to learn how to take back your courage and face your fears head on, then I recommend that you read “Fearless-The 7 Principles of Peace of Mind“. This is a wonderful book loaded with exercises and practices that will allow you to regain your strength, courage and fearless attitude.

As Mick points out the first most important step in taking control of your future is to determine the truth–the truth about who you are, where you are, what you will do, and who your allies are. These are extremely important questions and require that we take a deep dive into our personal calling in life. People can feel “stuck”, which the author defines as a regression of the imagination. Mick states that in that frame of mind you can not only lose your sense of adventure about your life, but you can also feel that things will always remain the same as they now are–in what we call imagination gridlock–which causes you to feel as though you have no control whatsoever.

During our interview together Mick and I discuss the kicking the cord out of the treadmill. I love this analogy for many of us the challenge is getting caught into the same old patterns and not questioning our directions and intentions. Einstein said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. If you really want to kick the cord, and question your patterns in your life I suggest that you read Mick’s book, ” Who Are You and What Do You Want?“ These questions are truly the four questions that will change your life forever, and hopefully you can get out of the rat race of life and get to focus on your soul’s calling.

Roger Walsh is one of the foremost scholars on spirituality and psychology, his wisdom became so apparent as we dialogued about his book, “Essential Spirituality“, that I could have engaged in a much longer dialogue with Roger. I have invited him to return to do additional interviews-so stay tuned for a series of interviews with this wonderful man.

Rogers book is about the deep practices that each of us should cultivate and maintain in our life to reach a deeper connection to the Divine. Roger has done extensive research into the various religious and spiritual practices that for centuries have assisted us in cultivating a deep spiritual connection. He makes a point to differentiate between religion and spirituality, which I believe is important. The word religion has many meanings; in particular it implies a concern with the sacred and supreme values of life. The term spirituality, on the other hand refers to direct experience of the sacred. Spiritual practices are those that help us experience the sacred–that which is most central and essential to our lives–for ourselves.

The ultimate aim of spiritual practices as our author states ” Is awakening; that is to know our true Self and our relationship to the sacred. However, spiritual practices also offer numerous other gifts along the way. Gradually, the heart begins to open, fear and anger melt, greed and jealousy dwindle, happiness and joy grow, love flowers, peace replaces agitation, concern for other blossoms, wisdom matures, and both psychological and physical heath improve. Virtually all aspects of our lives touched and transformed in some way.

If you are seeking to cultivate a life of joy, meaning and fulfillment then the spiritual path would be a great place to begin. Our author Roger Walsh in his book “Essential Spirituality‘ provides the tools and practices that will assist anyone on the path of awakening. His book is the best book that I have ever read on spiritual practices and the benefits associated with the cultivation of these practices. I encourage all of my listeners to add this book as a must read if you are exploring the spiritual path.

This book explores the possibilities for recognizing and freeing ourselves from a destructive process of perceiving, thinking, and acting that can be viewed as a pernicious worldwide epidemic. Unlike other diseases, which we strive to isolate and cure, this insidious fever has a characteristic that make us blind to it presence: we come to identify it’s symptoms as our very own self. This disease is lovingly referred to as our ego. Our author prefers to call is “egoic-minding”, because it is a process not a thing. Egoic-minding is a fragmented, biased way of perceiving and thinking–it is that hypnotic trance that we are in most of the time.

Stanford Addison had been a quadriplegic for more than 20 years, but his way with the horses and all of the people that he encountered was something special to behold. He also had the spiritual power to cure people of everything from cancer to bipolar disorder. Probably more remarkable, he did all of this from an electric wheelchair.

Initially our author Lisa Jones had anticipated staying on the reservation for only four days to write her story for Smithsonian, but ended up staying four years (off and on) and her experience with Stanford truly shifted her life journey.

At the time Lisa was 42 years old and dating a man she deeply loved, but he was at a crossroads in his life and wanted to passionately pursue his spirituality, considering a life as a Buddhist monk. Lisa was obviously torn and needed assistance dealing with her personal issues. As fate would have it and as a result of Stanford’s debilitating accident leaving him a quadriplegic, Stanford’s spiritual powers become heightened and his ability to tap into the heart and souls of the people needing a dose of his wisdom and spirit were nothing short of miraculous.

Over the months that led into years, Lisa would come back again and again to seek the wisdom and guidance of Stanford Addison, and thus their personal spiritual relationship blossomed. This book entitled, “Broken, A Love Story“, is about Lisa’s personal spiritual journey and awakening to the essence of who she was as a woman.

If you have not been following the generational differences, the millennials are the generation born between 1987 and 1996. The curiosity for Mick’s work began a few years ago when his consulting firm began to notice the frustration among manager and business leaders with integrating younger workers into their organizations. Activities that in the past had been relatively straightforward–like recruiting, retaining, and rewarding–now seemed more challenging than ever. 60 Minutes, the CBS television journal, even did a report about the millennial phenomena where stories portrayed reactions that ranged from amazement to incredulity to outrage.

The bottom line is that if managers want to learn how to ease the conflict and tension, which frequently are based on the biases and perceptions which as mentioned are often not reality, then they would best treat the millennials by including them, engaging their opinion and disarming them by treating them as equals. Millennials will react much more favorably, and many of the differences will vanish.

As Mick points out there seem to be two camps with respect to perspectives about Millennials. One camp believes that Millennials are victims of ‘trend inflation”, meaning that the media has created how they are perceived and consultants are creating a niche industry as a result. Millennials are bright, motivated and great to have around. The other camp see millennials as free agents lacking loyalty or commitment to their organizations. However you want to view millennials they are here to stay, and it would be best to learn how to work with them in harmony.

Its incidence around the world had doubled in the past two decades, prompting the World Health Organization to declare it a global pandemic.

Dr. Ripich combines both Western and Eastern western medicine in treating people with diabetes. He has distilled his treatment down into a simple step by step approach for 30 days.

1) Dr. Ripich suggest is that we take a break from sugar. Americans consume, on average, 170 pounds of sugar per person per year. 2) Add cinnamon for lower blood sugar. The US Agricultural Research Service says less that half a teaspoon of cinnamon daily reduces blood sugar levels in people with Type 2 diabetes. 3) Drink lots of water-Drinking plenty of water is still tops when it comes to staying hydrated without adding your health troubles or weight. 4) Eliminate all of the “Fast Carbs”-One of the single most important things you can do to quickly lower your blood sugar and reduce your weight to stop eating bread, baked goods and other “fast carbs”. 5) Eat a diabetes healing breakfast-If you ask an overweight person if he or she eats breakfast, and the answer is usually no. Ask a fit, trim healthy person and you’ll virtually always hear an enthusiastic “yes”.

Summer’s Path is the remarkable story of Don Newport, an engineer that comes face to face with his personal destiny under extraordinary circumstances. After losing his job and his health insurance, Don learns he has a terminal disease with only a few months left to live. On his death bed, he meets Robert, a brazen angel of death that promises to help Don with a graceful exit. As Don prepares to say his last goodbyes to his loving wife, Robert attempts to change Don’s perspective about his mortality and proposes an exceptionally unique option.

Robert leads Don through an astounding meditation of life and death and reveals various healing and spiritual concepts including walk-ins, embodiment and soul destiny. On this magical journey of self realization, Don discovers that it’s never too late to learn profound life lessons about ourselves and our loved ones.

In my interview with Scott we explore the healing and spiritual concepts that are articulated in the book. We speak about ancestral entanglements and how spiritually we are connected to our ancestries and that much of who we are can be related to our ancestral entanglements. I mentioned to Scott that in my course in spiritual psychology we studied our genealogy, and looked at the patterns that frequently repeat themselves from generation to generation. I encourage my listeners to look into this concept, and you will find that many of your ancestral patterns will be revealed.

We also speak about subverted emotions and how this plays a very important role in how we manifest disease in our lives. When we link the body, mind, spirit and soul we begin to understand the importance that our emotions play in the manifestation of disease in life.
